news

The Chamber’s Annual General Meeting, held last week at the Village Green Café, was a highly successful night. Our host Thomas Trevers and staff gave us a delightful meal and members had a lot of fun. Thanks to Councillor Martin Skipper for his attendance.

Sue Boyd, from Nationwide Realty Mosman, was elected President and Tony Page from Zambagrafix was elected Vice-President.

Our Secretary is Leigh Denton from Brennan Butcher & Co and our Treasurer is Pat Purcell from Wear it Again, Sam. Other committee members are Shannon Howe - Mosman Orthodontics, Kerry Brennan - Travel Choice, Julia Trajaoski - Janet Vincent Haircutters, Judith McGregor - Queenwood, Michael Blakeney - Architect, Susan Symonds - Strattons, Steve Boyle - Lodge Mosman, Judith Jennings - Travel Choice and Debra Adnams - Mosman Daily.

We welcome and thank our new committee for their generosity in accepting their positions.

Our first Business After Hours for this year was held on the Terrace at the Mosman RS Club with a good crowd enjoying the great view and the hospitality of George Arigho and his staff. Thank you again Mosman RS Club for your support of the business community.

Our next Business After Hours is at Mosman Library with our hosts Mosman Council on Monday, 11 March. (See details this page).

Sue Boyd is the new President of the Mosman Chamber of Commerce. Sue has been in Real Estate for over 26 years. Her enthusiasm and strong commitment to people and her clients is well known through her work at PDR Nationwide Mosman and her involvement on the Chamber Committee.

Sue is married to Renze Bais and their daughter, Rebecca attends Queenwood School.

New President Sue Boyd

Sue says that “The Chamber provides an environment where Members and Associates can exchange ideas, help each other in business, network and work with the Council for the betterment of the business community. The Chamber is also committed to continuing to make Mosman a great place to live and to visit. Every business has a role to play”.

The Mosman Is Kids promotion is highly successful with over 20 businesses involved.

Our next promotions will focus on Mosman Is Home and Mosman Is Fashion, Beauty, Style. Mosman Is Home will cover furniture, linen, home accessories retailers as well as

real estate. Meetings with interested businesses will be held in mid March.

The Business Forum held at the Mosman Art Gallery on 18 February was well attended. Inspector Greg Muir from Harbourside Local Area Command addressed the meeting. His main message was “report every crime, no matter how small”. Mosman Police can be contacted on 9969 1933. For emergencies ring 000. There was some discussion at the

meeting about the security service some retailers are using. Interested businesses should call David Campbell at Normans on 9969 7766. The feeling of the meeting was that businesses can improve their own security as well through education and awareness.

Enquiries about any of the above or other business matters can be referred to Susan Wardle or Julie Clark on 9978 4088.
